13 and 15 Weeks Pregnant – I’ve got some big news to share 🙂 Let’s catch up on how life has been!
13 and 15 Weeks Pregnant
Hi Friends, this is SO a “3rd child” pregnancy announcement 🙂 In that, I didn’t do any separate photoshoot, I am revealing the baby’s gender and doing a pregnancy update in the same post – life just marches on at this point and I’ve been very much of the “no fuss, no muss” mindset.
Let the bump photos begin! 🦃 The day after Thanksgiving we took a walk in our woods with @6ratrod the kiddos and my parents visiting from NH; we are savoring every minute with them until the snow storm 🌨 hits and they will have to go home 🚙 can’t wait to do a post on all the quirky pregnancy symptoms and experiences I’ve been having (📷 photo credit: June Kellner)☺️
I want to share so much but I have been busy with my kids, life, shooting food photos for the blog. One thing I notice, for sure, is that pregnancy sure goes by fast when you have 2 kids! As I am writing this I am 15 weeks and 2 days along (baby is the size of a pear, 4 inches, 2.5 oz., and 25 weeks to go! – says my pregnancy app). I have 6 months until this baby is here! When I say that, it sounds close. My 2nd thought is that it would be awesome to do some home renovation project before she gets here and use the due date as a deadline.
The due date is June 4th, 2020 but I wouldn’t be surprised if she came early. My daughter was born a day early and my son was born 5 days before his due date. Due dates are only an estimate.
We are having a girl! Wow!
My daughter now talks to my baby bump like she’s a person, kisses my tummy and thinks the baby can hear everything (soon she will!). My daughter has been setting aside her own clothes to save for her and requested that they share a room. It’s so sweet. Sisterhood already.
How have I been doing?
I definitely need a place and space to talk about cravings and all that prego stuff. In the 1st trimester, I craved all that is salty, sour and also was dealing with a lot of nausea. My fingers feel like sandpaper due to dry skin (ugh, I hate that). My nose was stuffed up (due to colds and pregnancy symptoms) for the entire time. I can only just start to breath through my nose again. I also really need to buy some maternity clothes again. I started browsing on Amazon and made a Maternity List that I will continue to add to. Do you have any maternity favorites? Let me know in the comments below. I feel like I really know what I like to wear by now when I am pregnant, so I won’t be investing in a whole wardrobe, it’s the same as what I normally wear, staples that I wear all the time paired with favorite accessories. I know my formula and I like choosing my own clothing! I donated my maternity clothes to other mothers and used ThredUp (I’ll share my referral link below) to clean out my closet after I had my son to make room. I honestly thought I was done having children and I figured I would just get new stuff if I ever needed to.

Because I haven’t felt like I have been able to do the things I normally do (eating certain foods, no desire to workout) I haven’t seen a lot of friends I normally see in awhile with some exceptions. I am in like all time “hermit mode.”
So how did that work with blogging? Not having access to all your senses, being nauseous and worn out and tired around food is pretty debilitating if you work in the food space. I just worked on old posts, created new recipe collections, started teaching blogging to our new intern Carly (she’s responsible for many of the new recipe collections and some new guest posts on the blog), and relied on recipes with formulas that I know would work. Tried and true family recipes. You see the value of these things when you need them! I also have about 100 recipes that I have photographed and just not put on the blog yet (there are benefits to working ahead), so, I have a lot of material to work from. I would actually love for those recipes to be instantly on the blog right now but I have to have a strategy for an efficient way to get them on while still keeping in step with all my best practices. I’ll just have to multiply myself and Carly! I realize at this point in my blogging career coming up with ideas fast has never been a problem! When you work from home and have your own business like I do, work life and family life is all mixed together. I have a schedule but mitigating those boundaries is always a challenge.
I’m still tired, yesterday for example after dinner time, I sat on a chair in the living room and put my head down and took a nap which is unheard of for me. I never nap. I feel like my symptoms this pregnancy are similar to when I was pregnant with my daughter, my first born, just super drained of energy. It’s hard when you don’t feel yourself – I just want to hide! When I was pregnant with my son, I had more energy, felt more assertive and outgoing, and these symptoms were not as bad, different hormones and every pregnancy is different.
My nesting and cleaning/instinct is pretty intense which is funny. I am cleaning out closest that I have been walking by for years. Clutter is my enemy. I have been throwing out and donating stuff left and right which is such a great feeling. I would like to keep that up.
I am looking forward to the 20-week anatomy scan. Eric and I always go to that one together and it’s a chance to see what the baby looks like, get some pictures and I, for one, certainly like to daydream about what she will be like. We will have quite the family clan – party of 5!
We have been looking at “m” names to continue that theme (they will all have that in common) in naming for the kids. We feel that we need to see and meet her before choosing and official name, so that we won’t know until after she’s born.
I hope to post more pregnancy updates and progress…. I am so behind with family updates, I still have to post a 2-year old update one for my son! I would love to be able to share regular life updates like I used to with those Sweet Saturday posts but I just haven’t found a way with how life is now (you know 2 kids and all) and keeping up with the work I have to do on the blog. So maybe these pregnancy updates can stand in for that 😉 Thanks a bunch for reading and following along!
