17 and 18 Weeks Pregnancy Update
Hi Everyone, It’s time for a pregnancy update! This time it’s the 17th and 18th weeks 🙂
This is the 2nd trimester but not halfway through the pregnancy yet. At this time, I was (and am) bursting out of normal clothing. There are definitely pants that I can no wear anymore and yoga pants are my BFF.
I’ve noticed throughout this pregnancy, my sensitivity to cold is more severe, like, I am always cold. It’s less so currently (as I write this, I am 19 weeks and 1 day).
I am really looking forward to the 20 week ultrasound, that’s when they do the full anatomy scan and we can have a better picture of how the baby looks like.
Another thing that I have noticed, is that because of the hormones, my joints are achier than usual. My back hurts, my joints hurt. I have to be careful because I twisted my lower back taking out the recycling the other day and it feels like a pinched nerve – so painful!
I did get some anti-fatigue, foam mats to stand on when I am cooking and doing dishes for the kitchen. I also have one in front of the washing machine. It really does help, especially since all our floors on the first floor are tile.
A positive thing about this point in the pregnancy that I am experiencing, is a restful night’s sleep. I have been sleeping so deeply which is unusual for me. I think my body just really needs the rest.
I’ve been doing a lot of nesting at this point, meaning that I have been organizing, sorting, cleaning donating things/closets/rooms in our house. That’s a great thing and always good to do in the new year anyways. I hope to keep that up, providing I do not get too tired!
As far as cravings go, the need for salty or sweet junk food is going away and I am craving green veggies and salad a lot, plus protein, which makes sense at this point in the pregnancy – the baby needs to bulk up on nutrient-dense foods! At one of the next pregnancy updates, I’ll have to share some of my favorite pregnancy foods that get me through this time. There are definitely certain teas and foods that I just can not do without.
By the way – in the photo above, I am wearing a yellow sweater from Kerisma, a clothing company that my friend, Lihui, (whom I went to Architecture School with at Pratt) is the creative director. Her company’s clothes have been so comfortable and forgiving to me during this time!
Thank you for reading and following along!
