Organic Flower Dyed Infinity Scarf
I recently had the opportunity to try this Organic Flower Dyed Infinity Scarf and loved its soft, 100% organic cotton material. If you are a reader of Life’s Little Sweets, you will know that I am all about supporting local/sustainable/organic businesses and brands whenever possible. This is one of those products that I feel fits in with that ethos and I am excited to tell you more about it, the woman behind it and her business. Read on to learn more!
Linda Lara is the owner of Musical Yoga Adventures, LLC. and she’s also my Mother-in-Law. She’s a kind and very talented lady and the person behind these lovely scarves.
When designing these scarves and her T-shirts, Linda Lara worked with BLUEREDYELLOW, a local (Philadelphia, PA) dye house called which is committed to producing locally sourced, comfortable, chemical-free textiles.
About Musical Yoga Adventures
Linda is known for her original music that she writes and composes along with the yoga routines to go with them. I listen to her music with my toddler daughter and it is a great way to have my daughter learn rhythm and be in a calm, relaxed and happy state. We often put the music on during the day and before bedtime as a part of our bedtime routine. It is also good to put the music on to avoid tantrums and has definitely helped in that regard! My daughter can sing along to the music and can say the lyrics and it always puts her in a good mood when she listens. Music is so important and if you have children, I highly recommend her baby and children’s music!
Here is an excerpt about the Musical Yoga Adventures philosophy:
Musical Yoga Adventures was designed to help all children, along with a guiding teacher or family member, achieve positive results, which include:
- exercising regularly with sequenced routines
- learning new songs and being able to sing along with them
- combining non-competitive yoga with music, which helps children process activities easily
- developing a higher level of focus, positive behavior, and confidence
- providing an opportunity for an enriched quality of life
About Linda Lara
Here is a little excerpt from the Musical Yoga Adventures about Linda Lara:
Linda received her Master of Music from Westminster Choir College, Rider University, in 1995, with a concentration in Composition. She has been a choral director and workshop presenter at various ASAH, MENC and Williams’ Syndrome Association Conventions, and is listed in Who’s Who in American Women, as well as Who’s Who in American Education. She has participated in the NJ Symphony Master Teacher Collaborative, and is the creator/author of Special Music for Special Learners, a music book/CD published by Shawnee Press, Inc.In 2006, she was the recipient of an award for outstanding achievement in the arts, given by the Somerset County Cultural Commission.
For the past 20 years, Linda taught music to students at a private special needs school, The Midland School, in North Branch, NJ.Before that, she taught elementary school, before starting her family.
Linda has completed courses for teaching children’s and baby/toddler yoga, and has practiced yoga for over 10 years.
Linda also teaches yoga and has been doing “Mommy and Me” yoga workshops for moms with their babies and toddlers. My daughter and I took a multi-week class and it was so cool to see my daughter be able to replicate the yoga poses at home outside of the class. My daughter and I also do the breathing exercises we learned from the class before nap & bedtimes and it is a great way to get centered and be present and calm.
I think integrating yoga into a child’s life early on sets a course for personal growth and expression. If you are interested in one of her workshops, you can check out her Facebook page for updates.
