Winc – I am sharing my honest review of Winc.com (personalized wine delivery service right to your door) after trying out the service myself. (not sponsored)
Estimated reading time: 5 minutes
Hey Everyone, I want to tell you about my experience with Winc.com for ordering personalized wine right to your door.
I had been thinking about ordering from them ever since quarantine started in the Spring, and finally, this Fall when life got busy with the kid’s school, I was like, “Hey why not just try it?” So I did, and I am happy with the service!
I don’t know that I would need it every month. I tend to drink less now, just in moderation but for trying out some new wines that I normally wouldn’t and spice up the mundane – it’s great!
If we entertained like we normally would, it would be useful as well to offer guests a selection of wine.
I opted for Winc because I just don’t really have the time to go to the store or run a bunch of errands, I have 3 kiddos under 6 and I am pretty darn busy and more housebound these days.
When am I going to find the time to get to the Spirits store to pick up a bottle of wine when I am working from home, being a mom to my kids, and helping my daughter on her e-learning days? (In addition to the laundry, dishes, other house chores, etc.)? These days I feel like I have more to do than ever before!
Why not treat ME to some delicious, reasonably-priced wine (they have all kinds, depending on your budget)? I think all these mail-delivery companies are brilliant – life is busy enough!
A Wine Service for Now
I am the type of person who does enjoy strolling the wine aisles to pick out a selection and I will do that in the future but for this season of life, a service like Winc is a helpful addition or supplement.
I like being able to talk to, have a conversation with or ask people in a store about selections. I think that’s hard right now during a pandemic and especially if you are a vulnerable population and want to avoid risk, going to places, in general, can be risky.
I think Winc could use that personalized service beyond an algorithm that figures out what you like; That’s helpful but human connection is what people remember and come back for too.
- In case you are interested, I am sharing my personalized referral code, (I purchased the wine to review for the blog and am not working with Winc for this post, btw), Get the referral code Here.
This is the way Winc referrals work: When I share my referral link with friends and family, they will receive $22 of Winc wine, and full disclosure, I would get a bottle on each of their first two shipments, totaling in $30 in credits.
My First Order
Here’s what wines I ordered on my first order (you have to order a minimum of 3 bottles for an order and to get free shipping have a minimum of 4 bottles):
- 2019 Far + Wide Touriga Nacional $13.99
- 2020 Outer Sounds® Sauvignon Blanc $14.99 – I tried this, it’s very light, fresh and pleasant, slightly sweet, just barely and dry
- 2019 Pacificana® Pinot Grigio $13.99
- 2018 Akoya® Chardonnay $12.99
- As I try each one, I will come back here to update with notes about how I like them – I am a little slow to finish because I drink less these days and only drink a little when I do. So far so good!
Nice Touches & Delivery
I know it sounds superficial but I love the label designs they have. The designer-artist in me is happy about how they thought of their labels.
The delivery itself was great, the packaging was safe and secure and well packaged. The box was placed right on my front doorstep and it was fast delivery.
I will come back to update this post, if I have more thoughts about the Winc service or subsequent orders in the future.
