Blackberry Mint Simple Syrup

Blackberry Mint Simple Syrup has crushed fresh blackberries in a mint-infused simple syrup base. This makes a perfect ingredient for cocktails, mocktails, sodas, dessert recipes, and more!

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup blackberries
  • 3 fresh mint leaves
  • 1 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. No-heat method: Crush 1/4 cup of blackberries and add them to a jar, add 2-3 mint leaves (I use apple mint or spearmint), add 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water, put a lid on the jar (tightly), and shake it until the sugar is dissolved. At this point, you can leave it overnight in the fridge to infuse. The next day, you can strain the blackberry seeds and mint leaves out and now the simple syrup is ready to use, enjoy!
  2. Heat method: In a saucepan over medium heat, add all the ingredients and stir with a whisk until the sugar is dissolved, remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature. Pour the mixture through a strainer, into a mason jar with a lid and cover.

Notes

  • Storage: For a simple syrup like this that is a 1:1 ration of sugar and water you can store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 month. Discard if you see any mold or bacteria growth.
