Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is the classic Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe that I first learned to bake cookies with as a child.

  • 2-1/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened to room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups (12 ounces) chocolate morsels, I used Nestle Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)


  1. Preheat your oven to 375.

  2. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

  3. Using a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and salt, set aside.

  4. Using a large mixing bowl, beat together the butter, both sugars, and vanilla extract.

  5. Add one egg at a time, beat well after adding each.

  6. Add in flour mixture 1/4 cup at a time.

  7. Add in chocolate morsels and nuts, if desired.

  8. Using a cookie scoop or rounded tablespoon, drop dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets. Put remaining dough in the refrigerator while cookies are baking.

  9. Bake 9-11 minutes or until edges are golden brown.

  10. Allow to cool on sheets for about 2 minutes and then transfer to wire racks to finish cooling.
