Brown Butter is the perfect addition to baked recipes and many savory dinner recipes as well. This ingredient gives a full, nutty, buttery flavor to whatever dish it is added to.
Have a heat-safe wet measure ready near the stove where you are making the brown butter. In a medium-large cast iron skillet, over low-medium heat, heat the unsalted butter, until melted.
Using a whisk, stir the melted butter at a low simmer. Adjust the heat to prevent the butter from burning. Remove from heat if it starts burning. The butter should foam and sizzle a little.
Keep stirring the entire time. It can take about 5-10 minutes (depending on the amount of butter that you use) to make it brown. It should have a lovely, nutty, and buttery aroma - it should be golden brown when done.
