Rinse the broccoli florets under cold running water to remove any dirt or impurities. Trim off the tough ends of the stems and separate the florets into bite-sized pieces.
Bring Water to a Boil: Fill a large pot with water, ensuring it's deep enough to fully submerge the broccoli. Add salt to the water for seasoning (approximately 1 teaspoon per quart of water).
Parboil the Broccoli: Carefully lower the broccoli florets into the boiling water. Allow the broccoli to cook for about 2 to 3 minutes or until it becomes bright green and slightly tender.
