Indulge in the warm and comforting flavors of our easy and delicious Turkey Chili. This hearty recipe features lean ground turkey, aromatic spices, and a medley of beans, all simmered together in a rich tomato-based broth. Perfectly balanced and customizable to your heat preference, it's a satisfying meal that's ready in no time. Top it with your favorite garnishes like cheese, sour cream, or fresh herbs for a cozy and flavorful dining experience that the whole family will love.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
- 1 tablespoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions, chopped cilantro
Instructions
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat a bit of oil over medium heat. Add the diced onions and minced garlic, and sauté until they become soft and translucent.
- Add the ground turkey to the pot and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until it's browned and cooked through.
- Stir in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, and oregano. Cook for another minute to toast the spices.
- Add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, kidney beans, black beans, and chicken or vegetable broth to the pot. Stir everything together.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. If you like your chili spicier, you can add a bit more chili powder at this stage.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for at least 20-30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Stir occasionally.
- Taste the chili and adjust the seasonings if needed. If it's too thick, you can add a bit more broth to reach your desired consistency.
- Serve hot, garnished with your choice of toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions, or cilantro.
