One of my favorite vegetables is Broccoli Rabe (Rapini), it’s so good for you, slightly bitter, and easy to prepare this way on the stovetop.
It’s so fast to prepare (only 5-7 minutes) which makes it a wonderful side (or added to pasta) for dinner.
I have just eaten a whole plate of it, if I am really craving vegetables – I am not kidding.
Where do I usually get Broccoli Rabe (Rapini)?
I usually get Andy Boy brand at the grocery store or the most preferred would be through my local Farmer’s Market or CSA.
If you can get it organic, that’s preferred.

How to Prepare Steamed Broccoli Rabe Rapini
To make sure the Broccoli Rabe (Rapini) is not wilt-y, I cut the ends off of the stalks and then let them soak in water, and then put it in the fridge for at least a half-hour (or up to overnight).

- 1 bunch Broccili Rabe (Rapini), tough stalk ends cut off
- a drizzle of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, amount to taste
- Kosher salt, amount to taste
- Fresh ground black pepper, amount to taste
- In a large pot, on the stove top, fill the bottom with up to 2 inches of water, place steamer tray or basket in the bottom, bring to a boil over high heat.
- Please the prepared Broccoli Rabe in the steamer tray evenly, reduce to a simmer, cover and steam for 5-7 minutes (check at 5 minutes).
- When it's done, remove from the steamer tray and serve drizzled with olive oil, salt and pepper, amount to taste. This is also great with pasta. Enjoy!
