Tomato Salad
Hi Everyone, this is the perfect seasonal, tomato salad, it has Heirloom tomatoes and super sweet cherry tomatoes, fresh garden basil and it’s marinated in a balsamic vinaigrette. It doesn’t get much simpler than that!
It requires, in season, ripe tomatoes, those Winter tomatoes will not do for this salad. This salad celebrates tomatoes at their most ripe and perfect.
This salad is vegan but if you want to add Mozzarella/Burrata, I say go for it; It would go together nicely.
Tomato Salad Recipe Inspiration
This type of salad, is a salad that I have been making for a long time. When I was in high school, I learned how to make a traditional, French Tomato Salad and this is very similar.
After college, I took a trip to Newport, Rhode Island and had a locally-sourced, Heirloom Tomato Salad at a restaurant on the pier by the water; it had just a few, thick slices, a simple, clean dressing and it was SO good and amazingly simple.
My Tomato Salad has locally-sourced, organic Heirloom tomatoes and cherry tomatoes at the peak of their ripeness because I like a mix of tomatoes, fresh organic basil from my garden because I love integrating herbs from my garden and marinated in a simplified, homemade Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing.
This Tomato Salad couldn’t be easier to make. I love to be able to make something homemade for dinner and this Tomato Salad is a wonderful addition to have with any meal. I use an OXO Salad shaker, my new favorite salad dressing tool that I got this Summer (I linked in the recipe card at the end of the post to the one I have).
If you don’t have a Salad Dressing Shaker handy, you can use a lidded mason jar which is what I have always used in the past.
