Air Fryer Potato Chips
These Air Fryer Potato Chips are salted, so crispy, and easy to make right in your air fryer at home! You can customize the seasoning according to your tastes.
Ingredients
- 5 lb. bag of potatoes, peeled - Russet potatoes are ideal for making chips
- water - to soak the potatoes overnight, enough to cover them
- 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar -to mix into the overnight soaking water
- 3 tablespoons kosher or other salt - to mix into the overnight soaking water
- 1/4 cup regular, olive oil - for air frying
- 1 tablespoon salt - iodized salt - to season before air-frying
- optional: customize with your favorite seasonings
Instructions
- Soak the potatoes: Soak the peeled potatoes in salted water with apple cider vinegar overnight. Make sure the water covers the top of the potatoes, cover in an air-tight container, and chill in the fridge for at least 8 hours and up to 48 hours. Alternately, you can process the potatoes into slices and soak the slices the same way for the same amount of time.
- Prepare the chips: In the food processor (if you didn't do this before soaking), put on the slicer attachment, slice all the potatoes into slices. In a large mixing bowl, add the potato slices, add the olive oil, iodized salt, and optionally your favorite spices and toss, until completely coated. Line the air fryer basket with potato slices, in a single layer. Bake at 320 degrees F for 15 minutes, check on the slices throughout the cooking time, remove any slices that are done, and place the done slices on a wire rack to cool. Fry for another 15 minutes, the air fryer should brown the slices evenly but if they need to be turned, do so with tongs. If there are larger slices that are still not done at 30 minutes of air frying, then do an additional 15 minutes but really keep an eye on the slices, removing any slices that are done to prevent burning. Allow the slices to cool on a wire rack. Enjoy!
Notes
- Storage: Store the cooled chips in an air-tight container, lined with a paper towel (to absorb any oil), at room temperature.
