Slow Cooker Texas Style Pulled Pork
Hi Everyone, need a delicious and savory dinner to serve a crowd which is also a crowd-pleaser?
Look no further than this Slow Cooker Texas Style Pulled Pork.
Ingredients
- 4 pounds pork shoulder (roast), thawed
- 1` teaspoon vegetable or olive oil
- 1 cup your favorite BBQ sauce, I like Stubb’s or Sweet Baby Rays brand
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup chicken broth, or 1/2 cup water and 1 bouillon cube
- 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Dijon or yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 large onion, chopped, optional
- 2 large cloves garlic, crushed
- 4 1/2 teaspoons fresh thyme, chopped, or 1 1/2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 8 hamburger buns, optional, or more as needed

We recently made this while we were on vacation on Long Beach Island, New Jersey and it made for an easy dinner so that we could focus on doing other fun things than being in the kitchen.

Michel always gets the pork shoulder from Costco, where we have a membership and I must say, I am impressed with their butcher area.

Ingredients
- 4 pounds pork shoulder (roast), thawed
- 1` teaspoon vegetable or olive oil
- 1 cup your favorite BBQ sauce, I like Stubb's or Sweet Baby Rays brand
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup chicken broth , or 1/2 cup water and 1 bouillon cube
- 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Dijon or yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 large onion , chopped, optional
- 2 large cloves garlic, crushed
- 4 1/2 teaspoons fresh thyme, chopped, or 1 1/2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 8 hamburger buns, optional, or more as needed
Instructions
- Combined the pork shoulder (thawed, not frozen) in the slow cooker with all the ingredients (except hamburger buns). Cook on high for 5-6 hours or low for 8 hours.
- Halfway through cooking, remove the pork shoulder to a large plate and using 2 forks, split the pork to separate the meat until it's all separated (make sure to remove excess fat and discard), stir the sauce, and return the shredded meat to the slow cooker to continue cooking. You can also shred the meat closer to the end.
- Served with hamburger buns, enjoy!
