Perfect Sage Thyme Butter Whipped Potatoes
Hi Everyone, I am happy to share these Perfect Sage Thyme Butter Whipped Potatoes because they are so tasty and good.
I brought these to a Friendsgiving gathering and they were a hit.
If you are not a fan of herbs and just want them plain, just omit the herbs but they add so much flavor, so please try them! One of my mom’s friends said her picky eater loved them!
I used the fresh sage and thyme in this recipe from the herbs in my garden.
This Perfect Sage Thyme Butter Whipped Potatoes recipe is one of my “garden-inspired” recipes, you can see all of the garden-inspired recipes, here.
You could also add garlic to the butter mixture if you want, I would do 1 tsp. minced garlic.
Garlic flavor would go beautifully with this recipe.

Instructions
Boiling Potatoes
- Fill a Dutch oven or large soup pot with water, sprinkle 1 tsp of Kosher salt in the water, and add washed and cut Yukon Gold potatoes in. Bring to a boil and cook until tender. Once the water is at a boil, you can bring it down to a simmer. You should be able to prick a piece with a fork and it should come easily out. When they are done, drain them in the sink in a large colander.
Heat Butter-Half and Half-Herb Mixture
- In a small saucepan, over low-medium heat, add 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, chopped, fresh sage and thyme leaves, and half and half. Bring to a simmer and stir to combine. After it's simmered for 1-2 minutes, remove from heat.
For Serving in a Slow Cooker
- Set the slow cooker to keep warm. Add the cooked, drained potatoes and Butter-Half and Half-Herb Mixture. Using a handheld electric mixer (for best results), mix the ingredients until smooth and combined. Before serving add 1-2 tablespoons melted butter on top and a couple of sage leaves to garnish. Keep the cover on between serving. If the potatoes get dry, just add some more half and half and mix in.
For Serving in a Large Bowl on the Table
- In a large mixing bowl, add the cooked, drained potatoes and Heat Butter-Half and Half-Herb Mixture. Using a handheld electric mixer (for best results), mix the ingredients until smooth and combined. Before serving add 1-2 tablespoons melted butter on top and a couple of sage leaves to garnish. Enjoy!
