Sweetened Condensed Milk Coffee is a simple way to enjoy your morning coffee. Basic black coffee lightened up and sweetened with sweetened condensed milk from a can. Great hot or iced!

Hey Everyone, have you ever run out of half and half and creamer and had nothing to add to your coffee?
And, if you are like me, plain milk is okay but doesn't quite make the cut.
Well, guess what?
Sweetened condensed milk to the rescue!

I can imagine making a large amount of this coffee and serving it iced if you are entertaining.
You can add as much sweetened condensed milk or as little as you want, to your tastes.

Making this coffee is also a great and cheaper alternative to buying coffee at coffee shops.
I usually have a little stockpile of a few cans in my pantry as a part of my regular meal-planning supply of food.
Making those little changes in spending habits can save you a lot of money over time!

I like making this with strong black coffee, so I usually choose a dark roast and/or add an extra scoop of coffee when I brew it with an automatic drip coffee maker.
If you prefer, you can make it weaker though!

Here is an article I found on sweetened condensed milk in food that you might find helpful and informative: Milk in a Can Goes Glam (source: New York Times)

I usually don't like my coffee sweet but once in a while, it's nice.
It's so good iced too!
I love it on a hot day.
We have an iced version of this coffee on the blog.

Delicious! We also took this on the road with us while camping for a couple of weeks, easier than trying to keep fresh milk.
Sara Maniez says
What a great idea to bring this along for camping, thank you for coming back to share with everyone! Best Wishes!

Soooo good, I had looked up "how to make sweetened condensed milk into evaporated milk & can sweetened condensed milk be used in coffee" Up came this, and my coffee craving was over! Never actually gave thought to not adding sugar due to the sweetness of the milk......
Thanks so much for blog on this!

I'm just drinking one with condensed milk spare from baking. Is there an Italian name for this type of coffee? I think I recall having one in Sardinia and it was something like" cafe condenso" or am I just imagining that? 🙂
Sara Maniez says
Thank you for comment! Are you thinking of "Café bombón"? ...Which is a Spanish variation of coffee prepared with condensed milk. We also just published a recipe collection just for the Sweetened Condensed Milk ingredient category: https://www.lifeslittlesweets.com/sweetened-condensed-milk-recipes-collection/

I've been doing this for a while now. A friend of mine used to use evaporated milk, but I got the idea to use condensed milk instead when I could no longer afford to go to Starbucks. The condensed milk gives the coffee a gourmet touch because it is so rich. It is as good as anything at Starbucks, especially with a swirl of whipped cream topped with chocolate shavings.
Sara Maniez says
Thank you for your input! I totally agree and it's so nice to have a gourmet flavor coffee made right at home. It's definitely an inexpensive shortcut with maximum benefit.

Please give to the right credit and stop stealing from other people credit. The Vietnamese had been doing this for thousand of years ago and you try to said you invented this.
Sara Maniez says
I know that canned milk was invented in the 1850s. I never once claimed to invent the combination of coffee and sweetened condensed milk. This is just something I made and shared because I like coffee drinks and I regularly share coffee-related and often recipes with sweetened condensed milk in them. I hope you have a good day!
Nina says
A THOUSAND YEARS? I think not!! Please be respectful and not blame people for things they did not do.
Layla says
I never respond to these types of things, but still your remark is rude to say the least. Just because she stumbled onto something that she wanted to share doesn’t mean that she was intentionally stealing credit from a culture of people with a recipe that she’s sharing for free online. In addition, it’s important that information like this is shared, but please be aware the way you come across is rude and loses the intended effect.
