Mocha Cinnamon Truffles

Hi Everyone, This little recipe came about from having extra ganache on hand after making mocha ganache frosting for a cake.

Since truffles are essentially rolled up balls of ganache why not try to make some?

I had a craving for something sweet to go with my morning coffee and making these Mocha Cinnamon Truffles seemed more dainty and civilized than scooping ganache of a bowl with a spoon - not that there is anything wrong with that...

These are fun to eat as you make them and they go perfectly with a cup of coffee or even tea.

Since they are made from a ganache frosting versus a traditional truffle ratio, they are soft and melt in your mouth.

The cinnamon gives the mocha a warmth and depth of flavor making them more interesting than just mocha alone.

I could see these boxed prettily with some ribbon making a thoughtful, elegant, and handmade gift.

They could be made a day ahead for a gathering of friends and be that extra-special something on the table.

They are ever so simple and easy to make.

There's nothing technical, intimidating, or difficult to do and yet the result is something that looks, feels, and tastes expensive and decadent.

I like simple recipes that deliver and this one has for me.

Ingredients for Mocha Cinnamon Truffles

• 1 cup whipping cream or heavy cream
• 1 tablespoon espresso powder or instant coffee depending on preference, I used Starbucks Via Italian Roast
• A few drops of pure vanilla extract or extract of your choice
• 12 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate morsels
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 2 tablespoons granulated white sugar

• measuring spoons and cups
• 2-cup wet measure
• small-medium saucepan
• whisk

Recipe Notes

This recipe can be made gluten-free with gluten-free chocolate morsels.

You can add a dash of cinnamon to the whipping cream and mix that in to make it more "cinnamon-y."

The espresso powder or instant coffee can be omitted to make them chocolate only truffles.

Cinnamon can be omitted and you can use cocoa powder, confectioner's sugar for coating, or any other candy coating.

Experiment with a different kind of chocolate, for example, dark chocolate would go nicely and has the benefit of healthy antioxidants.

There are endless ways to modify this recipe, I encourage you to get creative and have some fun!
