How to Keep a Bullet Journal
It’s January and it’s a time to reset, re-focus and think about one’s goal for the rest of the year.
Bullet journaling has been a tool that I have used for years to help me organize my day. It’s an easy was to be accountable to yourself. It’s also a way to look back and see what you have done and feel a sense of accomplishment.
Why is it called “Bullet Journal“? The term “bullet” refers to that little dot, “•” before the item on your list or idea which forms into a list of items that you want to accomplish or just get out of your head onto the page.
Having the correct processes in place to accomplish your goals is so important. It’s really a key skill that I’ve used to help me stay focused when I have a lot going on. I share a step-by-step tutorial on how I keep a Bullet Journal below!

How to Keep a Bullet Journal: A Step-by-Step Tutorial
All you need is a journal that you really like and your favorite writing tool. I stress that it’s important to find nice materials to work with because it will make you more likely to want to use them. Take time to source pens/pencils that you really like and find a journal that feels good to you. Make sure it’s the right size and color so that you won’t mind sitting down with it everyday. I recommend keeping a journal that is a good size for taking with you (like I do, just in case I come up with ideas on the go) if you want or you might want to keep it in your office. You might like a larger size and have a “travel” journal that is a good size for on-the-go.
Step #1 – Date & Time
Make sure you always record the date and time of your bullet journal lists. This is really important if you want to go back and reference a previous list.
Step #2 – Create Tier 1 & Tier 2
Tier 1 and Tier 2, otherwise called T1 & T2 are categories of lists of items that you need to get done, ideas, etc. T1 is the most important, high-priority things that need to get done right away. T2 is a lower priority but would be nice to get done, these can also be long-term ideas that you want to keep your eye one or will shift up to the T1 level at a later date and time.
Step #3 – Execute Each Bullet
I recommend checking off items and/or drawing a line through them as you accomplish them – whichever is most satisfying! You will be amazed at how accomplished you feel when you start getting things crossed off the list. Make sure to be realistic about how much you can accomplish at any given time and give yourself grace and enough time to tackle each bullet.
There are many ways to keep a Bullet Journal and this is just my way of doing it, I hope you find this helpful with accomplishing your goals!

I love keeping a bullet journal. I was a big list-maker before bullet journaling was a ‘thing’. I have been known to forget to date my lists though, great tip! I also love those chocolate peanut butter ZonePerfect bars. Yum. #client
I adore Zone Perfect bars. I have one every day for breakfast. My favorite flavor is chocolate mint, but I’m a big fan of the other flavors as well!
