Garden Fest 2019 and Roots to River Farm Market - Sharing photos from Mother's Day weekend events at the 2019 Garden Fest hosted by The Farm Cooking School and Roots to River Farm and the Farm Market, held on Mother's Day.

Hi Everyone, How was your Mother's Day weekend, last weekend?
We had a pretty full day each day of the weekend.
I am sharing a few photos (mostly from my Instagram Stories) from Garden Fest 2019 (Saturday) and Roots to River Farm Market (Sunday).
I figure it's time to do a little update since I haven't shared about it in a bit and give a little preview before the Summer CSA starts.
I missed my mom on Mother's Day weekend but we were able to catch up over the phone after and I sent her a card.
We did spend Mother's day with my Mother in Law, Linda, for a brunch at her house and that was really nice.

I was focused on watching my kids who were running around having fun.
My husband Eric took some nice ones of my daughter and the bubbles on Saturday and I am thinking of sharing those in another post.
On Saturday, Eric, the kids, myself, and some of our friends went to the Garden Fest that The Farm Cooking School and Roots to River Farm annually holds.
There were vendors including our friends, at Vituperio Artisan Bread Bakery and Folk City Roasters Coffee.

I love introducing friends to everything connected to the farm, there's so much good food to be had and good people to meet 🙂
We told our friends about the event, Eric went on a bike ride in the morning with his crew and they came to the fest (in their bike spandex, pictured above.
The weather was amazing on Saturday, sunny, dry, and not hot at all. Sunday was rainy but that's to be expected this time of year.
Every time I go to the farm market, I've been picking up plants for our garden.
This past weekend, I picked up a lemon verbena plant.
It smells so good.
I love making tea from the leaves.
It's one of my favorite "chill out" teas.
I have a few drink recipes involving Lemon Verbena coming up for the blog, so keep an eye out for those.

My daughter enjoyed the large bubbles in the field at the farm, she was running around and it got her nicely tired out, every parents dream 🙂
As I've mentioned before on the blog, I purchased a CSA share from Roots to River farm and I hope to share about the experience and produce here on the blog since it's specifically for recipes for the blog. The season will last 22 weeks, starting the first or second week of June and I will pick up every other week as per the type of share that I purchased.
I can't wait to try new-to-me vegetables. I want to be challenged and have something new and interesting to try - not to mention have healthy ingredients to work with and feed to my family.
I hope that it encourages people to look at CSA shares in their areas and support their local farmers too!

We have a nice routine of going to the Farm Market on the weekends with the kids.
I want to teach them about the relationship between food and the farm and help them (and myself!) connect to nature.
They are now open 2 days on the weekends 10 am - 3 pm.
They have other vendors at the farmer's market as well that sell local cheese, meat, honey, soap, and other items/food.
