Hi Everyone, I shot this Waffles with Nutella and Alpine Strawberries recipe back on 6.19.2018 and never put it on the blog, well, it's about time I did!
They are, smaller, narrower and sweet but more subtly flavored and more nuanced than their red strawberry cousins.
I linked to the kitchen tools (Amazon Affiliates) that I use for this recipe card at the end of the post including the most similar waffle maker that we use.
We have a Cuisinart waffle maker.
I love to pair something very easy to make (waffles) with fresh ingredients (Alpine Strawberries) either from my garden, my CSA share, farmer's market or just whatever fresh produce I can get my hands on.
Throw in a nostalgic ingredient, like Nutella, and we got some magic!

I got the Alpine Strawberries from my sister-in-law's garden.
You can either grow them yourself or find them at a farmer's market or strawberry farm that grows/carries them.
If you don't have Alpine Strawberries, you can substitute the same amount regular strawberries.

According to finegardening.com, the growing season for Alpine Strawberries:
With good soil and adequate water, all bear tasty, though small, berries continuously from June to October. Attractive foliage, pretty flowers, and neat growth habit make alpine strawberries good edging plants in the kitchen garden. When fully ripe, one tiny berry will perfume the air all around the plant.

We used Kodiak Cakes (buttermilk) mix for the waffles and they are great because they are protein-rich and my family loves them 🙂
This recipe is not sponsored at all, we just like and recommend that brand. Use your favorite waffle brand or you can make them from scratch too!
I am often cooking with my little kids (when I shot this I had 2, now I have 3 under 6 years old!), so it's hard to make recipes completely from scratch as I used to when I didn't have kids.
While I do love making scratch recipes (and I have many on the blog), making recipes that are part of scratch or a pairing of favorite ingredients works for me right now.
Partly from scratch counts as homemade or freshly made and prepared too in my book!
