Living Room Update

Hi Everyone! I’ve been sharing a lot of Kitchen Renovation updates recently (my last one being about our new tile floor) and I didn’t want to neglect updates from the other parts of the house.

These photos are in no particular order.

I just want to give a little tour of our living room.

Since I took these pictures in March 2017, we have ripped out the tile in the kitchen area which you can see in some of the photos below and we also moved the industrial pantry shelves that we’ve been using in lieu of cabinets.

1. A metal table that was originally wicker, then Eric welded a metal top for it after the wicker became worn.

4. The “Ceni” chair from Article.com

The sofa set is from Article.com, Eric found this online furniture company when he was searching for furniture to match Mid-Century Modern homes like ours.

5. This is a chair that Eric made from an old chair he found on the street years ago. Eric likes to make furniture from time to time.

7. A clear side table from CB2 that I’ve had since Eric and I got married, it was a wedding party/bridesmaids gift

Article also has a love seat and an ottoman in the same style.

I am not sure where we would put the love seat but the ottoman would definitely fit in the living room.

We are so distracted with our kitchen renovation that the kitchen has really been the only thing on our minds lately.

I’m sure when that’s done or almost done we can turn our attention to other parts of the house that need improvements.

10. Eric sister, Nicole, made this guest signature print for our Wedding back in 2011, it now hangs on the wall in our living room 🙂

Eventually we would like to add more art to the walls, although we do kinda like them sparse and uncluttered being minimalists an all 🙂

14. We converted a closet in the living room into a wood storage area near the door which has been useful

17. After our daughter was born and starting to crawl around we got this rug from Flemington Department store (NJ), a great local place. I think a larger rug would be great that extends under the sofa set.

21. We have these vintage floor lamps (mid-century) that Eric’s dad gave to us to use because they go with our house, and since our living room needed some light. They are pretty cool. and remind me of giant squid.

22. I love touches of yellow and would like to add some yellow or chartreuse pillows. I’ll know the right ones when I see them. It’s fun putting your own fingerprint on a home.

23. Eric found that chair by the fireplace for free on the side of the road last Summer. He brought it home sanded it and we have it here in our living room now.

This is a picture of one of the squid lamps lit up at night that I posted on Instagram.

Special Thanks to Eric’s mom Linda and my parents for surprising us and visiting us the weekend the new sofa set was delivered.
