Hi Everyone, have you ever tried to make oat milk at home? It’s easier than you think!
The great thing is that you can control what ingredients are in it, if you want it sweet or not. There are no additives or preservatives like store-bought oat milk.
Ingredients
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup whole oats, organic preferred
Optional Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 pinch of sea salt
- wildflower honey, amount to taste
Kitchen Tools
- blender
- nut milk bag
- 4-cup wet measure
- measuring spoons and cups
- long spoon, for stirring
- vessel for storing the oat milk in the fridge with a lid

Does homemade oat milk froth?
The one thing to remember about homemade oat milk is that it doesn’t froth like store-bought oat milk.
This recipe, as is, with or without the optional ingredients, does not froth. It can get a little bubbly but it doesn’t froth like traditional dairy milk, if you want, for example, to make a latte recipe.
To make frothy homemade oat milk, you would need to blend in other types of non-dairy milk(s) that do froth.
How long does homemade oat milk last?
It lasts up to 5 days in the refrigerator, stored properly, in an air-tight container. (It gets used up much quicker in our household though, lol!)

Instructions
- Add the water to a blender, add the oats and blend until fully blended. Pour through a nut milk bag and squeeze out the oat milk liquid.
- Pour into a vessel that can be capped.
Notes
- Storage: This oat milk can be stored for up to 5 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
- Home chef tip: You can use the leftover oat pulp in a smoothie.
