Libby's New Fashioned Pumpkin Pie" is a delightful twist on the classic pumpkin pie recipe. This updated version boasts a velvety smooth texture and a harmonious blend of spices, elevating the traditional holiday dessert to new heights. Created with Libby's signature canned pumpkin, this pie promises a rich, creamy filling infused with cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves, nestled within a flaky, buttery crust. Served chilled or warm, each slice offers a comforting taste of autumn and a perfect sweet ending to any meal. (my version of this recipe makes 2 shallow dish 9-inch pumpkin pies)
Hi Everyone, I love the original Libby's pumpkin pie recipe, so when I heard there is a new version of this recipe, I had to try it and it did not dissapoint in terms of taste and ease to make!
I'm happy to share my version of this recipe with you!
Libby's Famous Pumpkin Pie and the New-Fashioned version share the same foundational elements but differ in their approach to flavors and, their ingredient ratios.
The "Famous" version typically adheres closely to the traditional recipe, using Libby's canned pumpkin as a base, combining it with sugar, spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves, eggs, and evaporated milk. It's a beloved, timeless recipe that many people associate with holiday gatherings.
The "New-Fashioned" version, on the other hand, includes slight variations or updates to the classic recipe. This involves adjustments to spice quantities, the addition of different spices or flavorings, alterations in sugar levels, or the use of alternative ingredients to enhance texture or taste. It's an updated take on the original, aiming to elevate or modernize the flavor profile while still maintaining the essence of the classic pumpkin pie.
Ultimately, the difference between Libby's Famous Pumpkin Pie and its New-Fashioned counterpart might lie in nuanced changes to spice blends, ingredient ratios, or additional elements that offer a fresh, contemporary twist to the traditional recipe.
For Libby's New Fashioned Pumpkin Pie, proper storage is key to maintaining its freshness and flavor. Here are some general storage recommendations:
Refrigeration: After baking, allow the pumpkin pie to cool completely at room temperature. Once cooled, cover it tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and refrigerate. Refrigeration helps prevent the growth of bacteria and ensures the pie stays safe to eat.
Duration: Freshly baked pumpkin pie can be stored in the refrigerator for about 3-4 days. Beyond this timeframe, the quality may begin to decline, and there's an increased risk of spoilage.
Freezing: If you need to store the pumpkin pie for a more extended period, consider freezing it. Wrap the pie securely in plastic wrap and then in aluminum foil to protect it from freezer burn. Label the packaging with the date to keep track of its freshness. Pumpkin pie can typically be stored in the freezer for 1-2 months.
Thawing: When ready to enjoy a frozen pie, transfer it to the refrigerator and allow it to thaw overnight. Avoid thawing at room temperature to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria.
Always use your judgment and check for any signs of spoilage, such as an off smell or unusual discoloration. If stored and handled properly, your Libby's New Fashioned Pumpkin Pie should remain delicious for an extended period, making it a convenient and tasty treat for holiday celebrations or any time of the year.
