We have loved getting outside this month, hikes in the woods, enjoying the rope swing in the yard, playing with crunchy leaves, looking at the colorful Fall foliage - if it's something outside, we love it.
I find that getting outdoors has been a nice antidote when I feel cooped up in the house.
Daylight Savings time is approaching and the days have been getting shorter. I have been more tired in the morning because it's dark out now when we wake up.
I even took a nap the other day and I hardly ever nap! It's the changing seasons, I am sure of it.

Last month, we were navigating back-to-school season for our oldest daughter, Margo, on a hybrid schedule. While it's not a normal back-to-school, we are all grateful to have some semblance of schedule that her school schedule brings. I am always impressed and grateful, every single day to her teachers and staff for making school happen during this time.
My son is at home this year and it's been good, he's been learning at home and he follows along with my oldest's schoolwork and reading his favorite books together, we are looking forward to him starting (well, re-starting) preschool at my daughter's school next Fall. He's been my best little buddy helping me with everything around the house from making coffee, to cooking and baking to doing things outside.
Our newest little one, Maeve turned 4 months old this month and she started eating solids (!) and it's been going well. She is growing so fast and loves interacting with our older two kids. She finds everything they do so funny and amusing.
My husband had his birthday this month and I made my chocolate Wacky Cake recipe and used my Chai glaze recipe on top, it was so easy and tasted good! There weren't any leftovers!
I am looking forward to all the holidays coming up. We decorated for Halloween yesterday and the kids worked on homemade decorations. It was just the thing to bring cheer and it felt so fun.
We went on a drive-through pumpkin carve this year and the kids LOVED it! We also went to a pumpkin patch and carved a pumpkin and it was so much fun.
This past week we watched "It's the Great Pumpkin - Charlie Brown" and the kids loved it - it's amazing how that movie holds up over the years. I remember watching it growing up every year.
I made a Google spreadsheet to track the holiday traditions that we do, to see what everyone likes, and partly to remind myself of what to get ready for since life seems to move so fast 😉
Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here before we know it. I think the holidays will be smaller and quiet this year which I am fine with.
Here is last years Thanksgiving Menu (2019) and our 2019 Thanksgiving Photo Diary.
I am hoping for good weather, so we can be outside since we have been enjoying our yard so much over the summer and early Fall.
I would love to hear about your holiday traditions and which ones you are looking forward to this year. Will you be celebrating differently? I would love to hear what everyone's doing.
For those that don’t want to miss a thing, I suggest signing up for the e-mail list which is weekly or bi-weekly. You can sign up on the home page or any page of this blog.
Have a wonderful Halloween (if you celebrate it), remaining rest of October and November!
