Pop Tarts
These Pop-Tarts are so easy to make with store-bought pie crust dough and your favorite jam. It only takes 2 ingredients and some time in the oven and you will have your own, sweet and delicious homemade pop tarts!
Ingredients
- 1 package of 2 pie crusts, frozen and then thawed
- 1 tablespoons your favorite jam (I used mixed berry jam)
- small bowl of water (for sealing edges of the crust)
- sprinkles
Glaze
- 1 cup confectioner's sugar
- 1 tablespoon jam
- 1-2 tablespoons milk (or same amount non-dairy milk)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F.
- Take out the thawed pie crusts, and place them on a cutting board, cut them into 8 pieces.
- Remove the top pie crust piece and add 1 tablespoon to each piece and spread it around, leaving room on the edges. Take some water on your fingertips (or a pastry brush) and brush the edges of the pastry, put the top part back on and using a fork crimp the edges, and poke more holes for ventilation while baking on the top surface of the pop tart. Repeat with all the other pieces.
- Transfer the finished pastries evenly to the silicone baking mat-lined rimmed baking sheet, bake in your 450 degrees preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until light brown. When they are done, take out and allow to cool for 5 minutes on the sheet and then transfer to a wire baking rack carefully using a spatula to completely. Make sure not to apply any glaze when they are warm/hot.
- Make the Glaze: In a mixing bowl, mix 1 cup confectioners sugar and 1-2 tablespoons milk, using a fork, stir to combine, adjust the consistency as needed with more sugar to thicken and more milk to thin it out.
- When the pastries are cool, dip them in the glaze and place them back on the cooling rack (it helps to have a baking rack underneath to catch the drips), add the optional sprinkles, enjoy!
Notes
- If pie crusts are frozen, let them (in their pouches) stand for 60-90 minutes or follow the directions on the box.
